SWORN TRANSLATION WITH FULL FAITH AND CREDIT
AJASIX offers sworn translation services from Portuguese to English and from English to Portuguese, carried out by Public Translators and Commercial Interpreters registered with the Brazilian Board of Trade. These professionals are Delegated Public Agents, as established by Brazilian law. Sworn translations hold full faith and credit, meaning they are presumed to be true and are legally recognized by public authorities, consulates, boards of trade, courts of law, universities, notary offices, and other official institutions in Brazil and abroad.
When is a sworn translation required?
A sworn translation is required whenever a document in a foreign language must be presented to a Brazilian authority or public institution—or vice versa—as defined by Brazilian law. Additionally, because these translations are presumed valid by the Brazilian State and executed by an authorized Public Agent, they can also serve as an indication of authenticity and accuracy when presented to private or foreign institutions, depending on their internal requirements.
Legal Basis of the Service:
• Law No. 14.195/2021 – Regulates the role of Sworn Public Translators and the requirement of sworn translations in Brazil.
• DREI Normative Instructions No. 52 and 74/2022 – Complement Law No. 14.195/2021, establishing criteria and specifications for the practice.
